Kantor Imigrasi Parepare mengajak masyarakat secara bersama mengawasi keberadaan Warga Negara Asing atau WNA.
Kepala Kantor Imigrasi (Kakanim) Parepare, Noer Putra Bahagia mengatakan, hal ini bukan karena mencari salahnya tetapi untuk memproteksi.
\"Pengawasan bukan mencari salah tetapi memproteksi WNA seperti over stay atau ada hal-hal lain yang dibutuhkannya,\"ujar dia, Selasa (30/4/2019).
Sehingga karena itu, kata Putra, peran masyarakat dalam memberikan informasi dan menyampaikan ke pihak imigrasi sangat membantu.
Imigrasi Parepare sendiri menbawahi sejumlah daerah di wilayah utara Sulsel seperti Sidrap, Enrekang, Pinrang, Barru, Wajo dan Parepare.
Dilingkup beberapa kecamatan ini pun terdapat sejumlah perusahaan yang menggunakan tenaga asing seperti UPC PLTB Sidrap, Perusahaan Gas di Wajo dan PT Biota Ganggang di Suppa Pinrang.
Keberadaan WNA asal Malaysia pun asal negara paling sering masuk di sejumlah daerah ini.
Hal dikarenakan akses Malaysia dan Indonesia lewat Nunukan menggunakan jalur laut kerap menjadi pintu masuk.
Warga Negara Malaysia yang memiliki rumpung yang sama dengan Indonesia ditambah silsilah keluargaan yang ada membuatnya susah dibedakan sehingga membutuhkan peran serta masyarakat.
